    Ducks not laying

I've had Rouens and Kaki Campbells for less than a year now. Once they started laying in about July, they didn't stop. Until a few weeks ago. I let them set on some to get more ducks. They laid eggs for about a week after that batch hatched, then that was it. Do they not lay in winter time? It...

thinking of getting some geese need some suggestions

This year, I started with some ducks (Kaki Campbells and Rouens) to raise for eggs and meat. I also got some Canada geese to let roam free around the pond and yard. Everything is going well but this past week while Christmas shoping, I priced a goose for Christmas dinner at Krogers. $54. Wow. So...

How to reap benefits of duck water

So this is my situation. I have a duck pen separated into two sections. Each section has a hard plastic kiddie pool that seems to work great. However, I would like to use the water instead of dumping it out when it comes time to clean the pool, especially since we're experiencing the worst...

How do I know if there's a duck in my egg

I just got up (I work graveyards) and there are two eggs in the duck pen. But, how do I know if they've been fertilized? I don't want to waste them, but if there's a duck there, I'd rather expand the brood. I put them up to light and can't see anything, but I would think that's too soon anyway.

Club feet on my baby Canada Goose

I don't know what I can do here. I've got one of the six new Canada geese with cleft feet. It's so bad, the poor thing can't walk without tripping over itself. Anyone have any ideas?

    Won't come home

After a few attempts of trying to get the ducks to the pond, they took to it. Yeah, I'll go ahead and say it, like a duck to water. Problem is now they won't come back to the pen. I've seen a number of people who post on here and say their ducks go back and forth. I would like for a few to use...

    Eating the Ducks

I've been looking on the forum here and can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. I would like to know at about what age is good to eat a duck. I know it will be different for each duck, but is there an age that's too old? I have some Rouens that are about 3months old and honestly smaller...

    Goose house

I just got my Canada geese in and while we plan on letting them run free around the pond, I feel they need some kind of house for protection. I've looked at a few pictures and such, but can't really decide what would be best. In a perfect world, I'd like to have a floating house, but then I...

    Just got my Canada Geese

I just got my 6 Canada geese in yesterday. I've got a few acres and a pond I plan on letting them go around on. I also got some Federal paperwork. I'm not real familiar with this. I see what it is, but does anyone have any insight? I never really thought about goslings or eggs.(Hello! yeah, I...

    Hello from Texas

Hello. My wife and I have lived in rural area for about 13 years now. (Well, I have. She's been here her whole life.) We've recently moved onto 4 acres and decided to get some ducks for the pond. Turns out I've built a pen and they don't want to leave it. I've got some Kaki Campbells and some...
