My hen, Rosie, who has not laid much in the last six months (maybe 1 egg every 2 months) is getting very fat and heavy. She has had reproductive 'issues' and I've given up on her as a layer - she is still around only because we love her.
She waddles around slowly and is real heavy to pick up...
"Ok ... we've got this far ... now what next?"
It was quite funny to see my hens perched precariously on this ledge! They normally just roam around (on the ground)!
Not sure what they were really thinking but it isn't unusual for Bok-Bok (on the right) to escape - she is a real Houdini!
It's autumn here in Aus, so I was surprised to find 3 eggs in the coop yesterday - from 2 hens!!
Even weirder... one of them has reproductive 'issues' and hasn't laid for about 6 months!

BokBok- a 2 yr old Hy-line brown, the leader of the pack
Rosie - another 2 year old Hyline brown with various reproductive issues, and
Coco - the newcomer, a 7 week old 3/4...
