So..... once the ladies start laying..... Do I have to collect the eggs immediately? What if I am gone 24-48 hours? Would I need to toss any eggs I find when I get home?

I keep reading about using 18" of hardware cloth on runs, for skirts, etc, but all I can find is 36" or 24". Does 18" exist? If not, how do you cut the 36" into 2 rolls of 18"? Please please please don't say w/ metal shears!

Howdy - I need to mulch my raised beds, and I need something chicken-safe. The beds are deer-resistant, so the chickens should also not be in there unless I remove the top. However, some mulch will doubtless end up in the yard. What's chicken-safe? I was thinking chopped straw would work...
