    Extra silky roos?

It really depends on the show quality of the bird. They are known as one of the most popular 4-h birds (around here, anyways) due to their calm personalities and their strange appearance. Talk to your local 4-H extension office and you are sure to get them a good home, especially if you work on...

Hello from San Tan Valley, AZ. Finally decided to join.

Congrats and We didn't expect to raise chickens either until we found a dozen bantams in a box. We rescued them and were hooked ever since. Definitely in the right place for people to help you with any questions you may have along the way.

    General Pigeon Care Instructions???

I am clueless when it comes to pigeons, and a young pair was just given to me. He called them "Feather-neck Fancies". What kind of care, housing, etc do they need? I am a chicken person so I have no IDEA what i just got into! O,o

    What should I do? *UPDATE!*

I opened it more, it is dead. It was filled with egg whites and blood, wasn't even developed all the way. Strange that there was no smell and everything pointed to alive. Thank you all for your help.

Chick inside egg, collapsed and dried membrane, still alive but weak?

Day 23. Should I help it out? It is upside down, and glued to the membrane. I know this means it is weak, but I still want to give it a chance. Any suggestions how to do this?

    What should I do? *UPDATE!*

Its Official! It's inner membrane is GLUED to it! I can see inside the shell and it looks like it's head is upside/down! Do I help it out? I think it may be suffocating?

    What should I do? *UPDATE!*

Thank you. We did this, and it was a high floater, no movement, so we did what Akane suggested on another thread and popped a hole in the air sac end. It is strange! There is no inner membrane, but it isn't dead! There is no smell and there was some movement, but no membrane. I am afraid it may...

    What should I do? *UPDATE!*

The humidity was perfect, we had no problems. The temperature at it's highest got to 104, the lowest 97. I also don't know what the water test is, so can somebody please explain? And yes, at day 10 we threw the icky/empty ones out. Thank you!

    What should I do? *UPDATE!*

I got a dozen eggs in the mail 23 days ago. They had floating air sacs, but thought it would be fine. It is now day 23, no signs of life. 11/12 eggs were empty and one chick-in-egg still remains. No peeping, kicking, or any signs of life, but also no smell or veining on egg. What do you...

    Yet another silkie gender question...

Looks like a girl to me. Though, they can sometimes be very hard to tell. This is because breeders try to get smaller combs to breed bigger, fuller crests, and wattles "Very small and concealed by beard" according to the APA standard of perfection. And those two things are the only telltale...

Little Rooster mating with big hens?

That is a good question. Actually yes! When we first got chickens 5 years ago, we got a batch of bantams. When we added on a laying starter flock of Isa Browns, our OE game bantam would chase and mate thoes girls everywhere. It was the funniest, most pathetic thing we have seen.

    Thoughts on Reclaimed Old Wood

when you are done, just sand and paint it. Paint makes anything look so much better and ties a project together. It leaves it looking new without "costing new". If you are really creative, let it work to your advantage and paint it crazy. Then they will only stare because of how cool it is.

    What could it be??

Sounds like a fox to me. They can stealthily take a bird with no signs of struggle, and they can also carry eggs to be buried by their dens for a future food source. I don't know if ONE culprit is to blame, however. That seems like an awfully lot to carry at one time. Could be a fox stole the...
