Hey everybody!
It has been a long time since I last posted on here... like 2 years!
I was wondering if anyone had some hens that they would be willing to sell? Our hens have gotten old and we need fresh Eggs again. I'm looking for hens that are between 3months and a year old. Please pm me if...
Hey guys, I'm looking to raise one more set of chicks this spring. Do any of you have a broody hen that you would be willing to sell? Any help in finding a good broody would be much appreciated!
Hey everyone, I read this thread quite a bit but I haven't posted in here for a long time, So I feel like I know all of you even if very few of you know me!
I was wondering if any of you have a broody hen that you would be willing to sell? I have had great luck the past few years with putting...
So out of all 12 chicks we raised this spring I think that we ended up with one cockerel. What do you think? It is almost 3 months old. It hasn't started to crow but based on stance and redness of comb and wattles I am suspicious.
I have a hen which has been limping pretty bad for about a week. Upon examining her foot and leg I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I don't feel any broken bones and there is no swelling, redness, or infection that I can see. We have soaked her foot in warm Epsom salt water but that...
It is also worth mentioning that chicken poo is extremely "hot" or high in nitrogen content and is great for mulch or when tilling the garden but can "burn" greens if left in direct contact.
Wow, I missed a lot in the past day and a half!

- I just got a broody hen from a friend and now im looking for some fertile eggs! I would like to find some here locally along the Wasatch front. I would also like them to be pure breed but they don't have...
First, I would not eat the infertile eggs that they have been setting on(but that's just me...). However in a cool enviroment eggs will last quite a while the eggs you buy in a store are usually a week or two old when you get them. I would Just leave the eggs that they have been setting on until...
Auntie Hattie if you were here in northern Utah I would offer to trade or buy her from you I have really been looking for a broody. However, if you are up to having a few chicks, I agree with Cynthia I would just go get some cheap fertile eggs from a farmer in your area and let her sit on them...
I wouldn't worry about clumps, your chickens are just going to dig and dust bath in it. they will break up any clumps on the surface.as for weed fabric (coming from a landscaper) if you are planning on 4 inches of sand weed fabric would be useless as weeds will just grow on top of it.

Here are a few pictures of our coops. Our main coop is 8'x8' and was a dilapidated old shed without a roof or one wall when we decided to get chickens a year ago.
and this is a small little coop that I built from left over scraps this winter. I acquired a couple of old english bantams that...
