We are going to get Epsom salt today and soak her in that with warm water and the apply alot on neosporin to her wound and hope it doesn't get infected. So far it looks like its not infected and we are keeping our fingers crossed. I think she is sad cause she is alone. Her tail is arched down...
I've been washing it and applying neosporin. I over nighted the Blu Kote because of it being recommend by others. I have no idea how that happened. She was fine in the morning and then that. That's why I'm thinking she slipped. We have her inside in a crate right now. What happens if it dries...
Ok. I have a picture of her wound in another thread labeled Please Help. I don't know how to like it. I think she scraped it on the ramp when it was snowing. The skin is torn and it was bleeding. She is also limping. I was going o keep her in the house in a crate till she heals.
Thank you. I don't think it's prolapse because her vent is normal and it doesn't look like the pictures I've seen on the web. Her wound is below her vent. We have her inside in a crate and today she got up and started walking with a limp. I think she slipped down the ramp on Saturday and slid...
My hen got a bad wound on her butt so I ordered Blu-Kote like recommended from forum members but I have a question. Can we still eat her eggs while using this? Thanks
Ok thanks. We took it off this morning. She made it through the night and we cleaned the wound and applied more neosporin to it. I ordered Blu-Kote and paid for overnight shipping so it will be here on Tuesday since its the weekend.
She is a Buff Orphington. I'm hoping she's not inside all winter. My dogs and cats are not o happy right now. I'm hoping that the other 2 hens will miss her and welcome her back quickly. When the snow melts, I'll let then free range again together and hopefully it will be like it has been before...
Thank you everyone. We used neosporin on her till my order comes in. She is eating and drinking and we have her inside in a crate. We covered the crate but we don't know if we should keep her in the dark so she won't lay or take the cover off during the day? We still can't figure out how she...
she is only 7 months old. I have neosporin with the pain relief. What about peroxide? I woud go out and get something but we just got over 6 inches of snow and ice is coming down now.
we have her in a crate in our house and she laid an egg. I don't think she is blocked in her vent but we have no idea what is wrong with her. does anyone have any ideas?
I'm new to chickens so I really need some help. Today my BO was laying in the dirt, not moving so I removed her from the pen and saw some blood. I started looking up some info on here and I thought maybe she was eggbound so we put her in the tub with warm water. We can't feel anything hard near...
Our New Girls
Hello!! My family and I are new to raising chickens. We had no idea what kind of chickens to get, how many and what to build for them. After doing a lot of research on the Internet we decided that a chicken tractor would be best for our home. I really liked the ark style...
Ive been searching to find out if hens and lay 2 eggs in one day, one right after another but I'm confused. 2 of my 3 hens are laying for sure because I've seen them but I don't always get 2 eggs a day. Sometimes I'll get 1 egg then the next day I get 2. Today when I went to check, my barred...
