Thank you, Thank you very much!
Well, since I'm not going to come get him, he better pack his knapsack and start walking. Ha!
I'll gladly donate him back to you. Why don't you put him up for auction and deliver the proceeds to the nearest food bank? (Kinda ironic, huh?) Any takers?
77, looks like you've done a really good job building your styrobator!
The fan you can probably get by without, but, I do think you will have to have a thermostat of some kind. Otherwise, there is no way to regulate the temperature and it will just keep getting hotter and hotter 'til your eggs...
It's TORTURE!!! I've been sitting on my hands to keep from opening the bator! The Barnevelder chicks have been talking all morning and due to hatch tonight. I can't stand it! Now is when you wish you had the clear door on the Sportsman so you could watch!
77, I'm so sorry. :aww I know how much you wanted this chick. Sounds like Dad is on board and ready to build you a coop, so try again next spring and fill it to the brim with little chickies!
Look how much you have learned by this experience! Keep learning and asking questions...
I looked at my Wal-Mart yesterday for supplies and found absolutely nothing! They didn't have any styrofoam coolers except round ones, and only wireless or plain Accurites--none of the wired ones with probes, no water wigglers.
I have the heating apparatus and plastic windows from an old LG...
Yeah, I guess I agree...
I had thought about wrapping it in a towel to keep it warm--cooler a good idea, in the shirt & body heat good idea---but the more you handle it, the more it gets shaken and confused inside the egg...not to mention the chance of dropping it.
You're probably better...
We hope he's O.K., too! We're still rootin' for him!:yiipchick:yiipchick
You're not dumb for being so nervous...it just shows you care. Caring about others (and critters, and neighbors, and your environment...) is a good trait to have in life!
If it so happens that he doesn't make it, just...
If you put your ear down next to the incubator, can you hear him pecking? It may be a little hard to do with your incubator, but on a styrofoam one, you can put your ear on the plastic window and hear them.

Just like Puggles or Labradoodles---they're crossbred "mutts", too, but are known as "Designer Dogs".
