I don't think that anyone will ever convince me that a rooster isn't prone to being a rooster, and no matter their physical size, they all have HUGE egos. Yes, some breeds and even some lines are more prone to having calm or aggressive roos, but I usually interpret "prone" as a 51/49% chance...
Our 1st orloff chicks (3 of them) are only 2.5 weeks old, but having kept 9 other breeds (thus far), I'd vouch for them being one the most intelligent breeds I've ever met, thus far. We can already call the little winged fluffs and they come, they already know the sound of the mealworms...
I don't know if this may be of any use to anyone dealing with Mycoplasma, but here's the experience we had with our flock in the spring: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/667527/mycoplasma-gallisepticum-crd-respiratory-gurgling-rales-when-breathing-no-other-symptoms

Relatively speaking, I think very few people actually have them, and their gene pool is much smaller than many other breeds in this country. Personally, I'd love to add orloffs to my flock...in fact, when we were first looking start a flock all that I wanted were orloffs. But I couldn't find...
How do orloffs do in a mixed flock? Are they generally good/don't care, or are they one of those breeds that tends to be on the "one flock/one breed" side of the spectrum? I've been looking at orloffs for about two years, but haven't found much information about that aspect of the breed, and...

Oh jeeez.....I reeeaaaally want some Orloffs (banty or standard)....being a chicken n00b, though, not sure how hard would it be to integrate a pair like this into a flock of 4.5 week old chicks...must also go confer with DH.....
When my husband and I first decided we were going to take a shot at "the chicken thing" and started researching breeds, I immediately fell in love with Orloffs and put them at the top of my list for a breed we wanted to have a try at. I was really bummed, though, because I quickly discovered...
