If you're handy with a computer, you can design and print your own, like these I made using Pages on a Mac: Then you have whatever wording you want. Just cut them out and stick glue them on.

We got 2 inches in about half an hour, and our entire 48'x48' shop flooded, including the chicken coop in it. The outside covered coop got flooded too, the first time it's every gotten wet. My poor chickens had nowhere to go but huddle on the roost, scared, while my husband and I broomed water...

I have an indoor and an outdoor coop connected by a guillotine door, which stays open all night. Both pens are predator proof, even from snakes (metal roof, 1/4" wire mesh sides and a 3 ft skirt to prevent digging). Both coops are rainproof and have an 8' roost. My chickens don't want to stay on...

That idea really works, CaroleW! This year I bought chicks 4 weeks apart. I'll never do that again if I can help it! I built a door with wire mesh between the two groups and started the day old chicks under their light so they were visible to the 4 week old ones. It wasn't until they were about...

I just discovered it's illegal in Arizona to sell eggs unless you register! And then you can't advertise them (unless they are grade A and you are under Dept of Ag inspections) as "Fresh" or "Local"...

I wrote this post in response to some chatter about shoewear (?!), but since it mentions and has pictures of our beautiful monsoons, I thought I'd share it here with the Arizonians! https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/what-shoes-are-you-wearing-outside.1483792/page-2#post-24730796

Thanks! Good ole' Royal Albert, eh? I use several of mine everyday (several because I keep putting my coffee down to go do something and forget where I left it!). p.s. I left a forgotten cup in the flowerbed, where a thorny grass burr fell in. When I threw down the last cold swallow, it lodged...

Wow, an Argent Fox Brother Maynard is very rare nowadays! And the Triplett is very pretty--I got to try one out somewhere. The ones I play the most are my Marini harps and my Blevins harps. And yes, who can be without a harpsicle? I've bought and sold 8 of them, keeping this last fullsicle. I...

Ah but she's talking about mystical non-pooping chickens, the kind that don't have to poop! Wouldn't that be great?

Oh, my chickens don't poop. HA! I have to clean and hose the patio and furniture every day to get ready for a fresh day of pooping. The picture was taken early in the day before they got started.

But really, send me a picture of your harps!! What kind do you have? I've only had one wire strung Limerick, and I currently have a wire-strung Lynda Lyre that I mostly play at the end of Christmas programs, just to be reminiscent of the angels pictured everyone with small harps... Here are...

Thanks....it's my favorite place to relax, with the chickens and the mountains in the background! Almost every day I bring my smallest harp out and play.... And if not on the porch, then in the hammock. (I sound like a lazy bum, don't I?) Just as long as I have my chickens and my dogs with me!

I posted this in the General but was told the Arizona group might enjoy it, too. I live in the ghost town of Pearce, in the Sulphur Springs Valley south of Willcox. Those are the Dragoon Mountains below the rainbow. Our monsoons are just beginning. So here it is, from this morning. I just...

I keep my homemade whole-grain chicken feed in the freezer and feed it to them frozen on hot days. Then they have a personal air conditioner in their craw, cooling their whole bodies....at least until their body temperature thaws it out.

Yikes! My dad told me in the olden days they used to cool milk and other stuff by hanging drenched towels up for evaporative cooling. Maybe a sopping wet towel hung in front of a regular $20 floor fan would work? It would be labor intensive though, having to re-soak the towel at intervals...

Thank you! Yes, I built an indoor side and an adjoining outdoor side on the wall of our shop. I absolutely love it because it's so easy to clean and I can just reach across the half wall to pet the chickens on their roosts. Very often they hop onto the wall from their roost to get closer...
