What a handsome guy you have there! Thank you for your input, it's always much appreciated!! I think I will stick with him alone for a while, he is such a pretty and sweet guy and that even has genetic value too. If you ask her, she's got it alllll under control :)

Well, that's exactly what my partner said! He fell in love with Honey, and who could blame him? He is still under a year old, maybe he's not up to full testosterone capacity yet. But maybe I can breed me some silent-er-ish roosters, and Olive eggers at that!

Oh yeah, super spoiled :) oh yeah, maybe he IS a light bramah! Here's some better pics He is my only rooster, I usually just keep girls and eat boys but he's the exception. I've been thinking of keeping a rooster two or three-some at another friends house for breeding only...do you think that...

Yesterday I put Mr Rooster in the coop with my Buff Orp hen...after an hour he still had his head in the corner trying to hide. I went in there and petted the hen, she squatted down and put her tail up for me, he wasn't into it. I left them in there for another hour and let them out. Could he be...

Hey there Arizona chicken people! I have an interesting delema right now. I raised a bunch of meat birds last winter, they were all boys and one was so good (and cute) that I threw him in with the 10+ hens and pullets. He grew up with them and is so well behaved and almost MUTE! I mean, I've...

@Cityfarm Unfortunately, he is not that experienced. He is changing out the water a few times per day that they stand in to cool. They seem to like the misters, stand near them and get their backs wet. I'm just heartbroken that I'm not there to help them. I did have him FaceTime me so I could...

@magicchicken Thank you! Fridge it is. Hopefully no more will go down. The two that died are hatchery birds, makes sense as they come from cooler climates. I have a Cochin rooster who is about 5months and doing great in the heat and personality wise. Hopefully when I start hatching in the fall I...

Thank you. If we lose any more I'm going to have him wrap well and put in the freezer so I can necropsy when I return in a few days.

No corn or scratch right now. The food is out of the mister's path and it gets emptied and refilled every other day, just regular pet club layer pellets. I've never seen any scorpions, I'm just crossing my fingers that no more go down unexplained. :(

Help! I'm losing full grown hens! Yesterday afternoon a EE hen that just started laying last week was found dead on the ground. No blood, no bites. This morning, a 8month old black austral hen dead on the ground under the roost just the same. I'm out of town and the room mate is taking care of...

Well how about that...my Aussies are struggling this summer. I'm getting one or two eggs per day out of 4 BA's...it is their first summer. I wonder if they will get better over time?

Hellen is pretty friendly, she loves to follow me around the garden while I'm weeding and watering hunting for bugs and sneaking okra leaves. The babies are still a little skittish, I'm hoping that like mom they will calm down with age. They are beginning to realize that I'm the lady with the...

Probably good you went that way if in the city...they can be incredibly loud. I've found most of the noise quiets down the older they get, once laying eggs and breeding regularly they are much more calm. And the neighbors get plenty of eggs to keep them happy.
