    I don't have a bator, and if I can get hens to hatch, I never will have one. In general, I prefer to buy chicks. I have a menagerie of heritage breeds. My Ameracaunas (plus the roo) are not good examples of the breed and lay green eggs. (I SO wanted blue.)

    O dear! I hope the flock does not kill mine! If they will, I need to know so I never do this again. I ordered chicks, so my 'private quarters' are already booked. I am putting faith in the fact that my chickens have so much space that they won't be aggressive.

    I also have my brooder on a high shelf - not my choice. I plan to fluff up lots of straw beneath the shelf when hatching time comes.
