I love this. It's such a seemingly absurd thought. NORTH of the Mighty Miss!? We went to the source when we rented a cabin there once long, long ago. What a thing!

Maybe he's so maternal because he's not overloaded with boy juice? I hope you can keep him with the itty-bitties at least. 💕

Our precinct is rural and very small. Maybe a 5-10 min wait any time of day. So, no big sacrifice for us to go in person.

I think I need one of those cloaking device doo-dads. Come on, maaan! Tell me where he got it. I can' t figure out where I put mine, but it's time to cut the malarky. You folks sittin' round the kitchen table need your frackin corn pops and I'm gonna give 'em to ya. That's what matters.

I think I may have heard the same guy. The one I just know was wearing a high-tech invisible earbud helper thing? That one?

It was too, too hot here, right up to the moment it became too, too cold. Below zero last night. :hit:hit:hit

Do you need them to be chocolates? The Chocolates (from hatchery sites I've read) are a larger bird, but that doesn't always mean a better meat bird. Honestly, smaller turkeys are a lot easier for smaller families to use. They thaw quicker, cook faster & provide more manageable portions. I was...

Sorry, guys! I didn't mean for anyone to worry or even notice—I mostly just read, so I didn't realize I'd cause a stir or worry anyone. 😔 What with losing Memphis of course, that changes things. She was such a presence here, so full of life & love. Death always shocks me. You get to thinking...

DH liked the geese better when there were not sixteen of them. It's a grand sight though, them all running up the hill together, flapping their wings and honking as though they were about to take to the sky. I will do 2-3 a day, when the days are a little cooler. I can't do more than that...

I have one; it works great for chickens. Mine doesn't do enough to a turkey's foliage to make it worth cleaning, so I'm thinking prolly not great for geese. Ducks, maybe. I think I'm gonna try: Dry plucking then torch; & if that's not great: Dry partial plucking, then wax (like the video)...

Thanks! Have you ever used wax? Do you think it would work to scald, pluck most of the feathers/fluff, then wax? Or would the wax pull off skin at that point? 🤔

I used to get lumps in my gravy, but I'm not sure how I did that... I think maybe trying to add dry flour to it because of it not thickening enough? It's possible to sprinkle in a bit of flour very finely & not make a big blob... or lumps. This doesn't work well (for me) with corn starch, but...

Not a big fan of the big baking potatoes. They're too dry for my taste (and there's that thick skin...). I much prefer the smaller ones with thin, delicious skin. I eat the skin on sweet potatoes, too. So good!
