Good Morning all, quiet in here today. The lady I gave the little chick to called me last night and asked me where the rest of the chicks were (after I already told her that it was the only chick that survived that broody hatch). She then told me that it had developed a big lump on it's chest...

I know for sure it's not a ghost town because I'm missing! LOL! But thank you! Yes, it is cute, and loud! I know, right? Mostly because of our schedule, we typically go out of town at least a few days during spring break and I wouldn't have anyone to care for them. Mostly because...

Morning all, didn't take long to catch up on the thread. I'm taking my lonely chick that had the curled toes to it's new home tonight, will be glad to have it out of my bathroom. As much as I love chicks, having this one single chick has been SO LOUD. Much easier to keep the brooder clean...

That was the membrane, it had dried out completely and was shrink wrapped. The hen had eaten most of the shell, and the ants were eating the chicks yolk sac! Ugh. It was not a pretty sight. I'm just glad it has survived and doesn't seem to be adversely affected!

Little Zelda is doing great (aside from being lonely!). She's up running around and jumping and crazy! Hard to believe, I really didn't even know if she was alive when I found the egg covered in ants. It took a while for her to actually even move after I got her out of the shell. Not...

Thanks Liz! In random news, I have a day old chick that I assisted in hatching (found it being eaten alive by ants, it was shrink-wrapped for who knows how long?). It has terrible curled toes, I have little chick "casts" on them, trying to help them straighten out, hoping the little thing...
