I lost Lucky sometime yesterday. I had external pip in the morning, but when I went to check them last night, poor Lucky was gone.
I did get an early bird surprise today at work! And the third egg is looking pretty good, pipped and still peeping.
My three went into lockdown today. I candled last night and Lucky is still kicking. I put it in wax side down, so hopefully it won't interfere with hatching.
Are ya'll sick of me yet? lol Rouen eggs, day 11. This one has no visible veins (it did at day 5/6ish), but the dark spot moves independently (not just floating, but wiggling). I feel like I should say goodbye and pull it out now, but the wiggling makes me feel a bit guilty. It is way too...
Ducklings are ridiculously cute! We had the one hatch on Friday, then when we were gone yesterday, the other two hatched. Even though we were gone, we were able to watch along thanks to the camera. Now #1 has to get used to having other ducks around after his day as a people.
It is day 11...
We've only hatched quail before, and that years ago (10+), so I'm pretty lost. :)
Duckling #1 is out and drying off. Everything looks good as far as I can tell. The other two have pip holes, so hopefully they won't take too long--the first little one looks so pitiful trying to snuggle up...
I open up the hole a bit this morning and that seemed to give it the space to turn. In just an hour it's started pecking in a circle. :D Hopefully I'll have a new duckling today!
So duckling #1 externally pipped roughly 36 hours ago (less than 24 hours after lockdown). Since then, it has punched two more holes in the same spot. I opened up the incubator and it started peeping at me. I can see the end of it's bill and wing (?). How do you know when it's malpositioned and...
I put the eggs in lockdown late last night, and it's a good thing I did because I have an external pip already! My mom side can't help but be worried about them being too early. But I candled and they're alive and wiggling. So hopefully things go ok.
My first three Rouen eggs are in lockdown. I couldn't resist putting the wyze cam in there, too.
Did a quick candling of Lucky the cracked egg and they're still growing! They have an eyespot now and was wiggling around for me. Yay!
My first batch of eggs go into lockdown this week and I have a quick question. Do you count the first day as the first day that you put them in the incubator, or do you count by 24 hour periods (as in, day 1 would be 1 day after they were put in). I'm afraid to put them in lockdown on the...
I am new to both ducks and incubating. I currently have 9 Rouen eggs incubating, all bought off ebay. Three are due next weekend, and 6 others were just put in Wednesday. Of the newer batch, 4 have veins and heartbeats and one looks younger by a day or two, but something appears to be...
