We lost one of our khaki campbells to a hawk, which brought us down to two hens, so went out and got three ducklings.
We're wondering if anyone within the state is planning on doing an order with Metzer around late March or early April? We're interested in getting one Roman tufted gosling, so...

Actually we have ducks, not chickens. We did assume two layers at first, but after a bit of vent inspection, apparently there's just one.
We’ve learned that only one of our girls is laying. Amazingly, she’s maintaining at two eggs per day! Just hope it’s not exhausting her to do so. The other two have yet to start laying.
I cooked and ate one of the eggs from today. Phenomenal! I can’t go back to store-bought ever again.
Our Khaki Campbells are now 23.5 weeks old, still waiting on any of them to lay their first egg. I guess maybe by 28 weeks (7 months) we should start to be concerned? They wouldn't skip egg-laying all fall and winter, I hope.
Still waiting on the first egg. The drake is getting that lovely green-ish sheen to his head though. I really thought between 17 and 20 weeks was when khaki campbells started, Google has some pretty inaccurate info.
Going on 23 weeks soon, still waiting for that first egg. Really thought our early bloomer would have started by now. I wonder if ducks synchronize ovulation?
Rehoming the leopard gecko soon and found a lost puppy. Seems to be a yorkie/chihuahua mix.
Our ducks are nearly 22 weeks and still not laying! When will the wait finally be over? In the meantime, we've attempted to foster a black kitten. She unfortunately turned out to be a little too emotionally-disturbed for a social life with other cats, so she's unfortunately gotta be re-homed...
Our drake seems to be waddling much better lately. He's also getting his mallard-like plumage that really differentiates him from the girls now. I'm a bit surprised that by 20 weeks none of them have started laying yet.
Our young drake has mycoplasma synoviae, we took him to the vet last night to get diagnosed and put on meds. He's getting antibiotics and pain-killers. Hasn't shown up in any of the females. Hopefully this will be the only case seeing as they're nearly fully grown at 18 weeks.
Thank you, we're at least thankful for the long holiday weekend to process the death. He would not have liked the fireworks anyway. I think our last remaining dog will be integral to moving on. The one that passed had been deaf for a little over a year, and his overall quality of life was slowly...
Our 14-year-old dog passed away last morning, two hours shy of his euthanasia appointment. We're building him a box today and we'll bury him soon, next to the dog we lost last year. Dad was his favorite, so it's hardest on him. Dad's mom is also very sad, more than I expected.
My sister's...
The ducklings were fed once within a span of four days at 11 weeks old. Not sure how they're still alive, but all are accounted for and healthy again.
The dog was not his fault, Benji has been struggling with kidney disease since January. He just so happens to be at the end now. Benji was...
Was pretty upset last week, we were out of town for four days. We trusted the house to a caregiver that miserably failed to do anything. 8/18 fish dead, guinea pig nearly dead and surviving off of the water and calorie contents of a lettuce leaf. Emaciated and in a cage so soiled it harbored a...
