Don't damp it! I prefer hemp when I can get it. You can get the compacted dust free stuff which is heaps better

My breeder was recommended by them & the quality of her birds is excellent. I hope you find some great birds!

You could try here:https://www.backyardchickencoops.com.au/collections/chickens They reckon they can source any chicken & they do have outlets in all states.

Fill used milk bottles with water, freeze them, put in the water dishes. Freeze & put in the coop. Water down the coop & run. Lots of natural shade. Frozen fruit treats. Watermelon ~ any melon really. Plenty of fresh water. I find I'm topping up a lot more when the weather gets really hot.

I have a bantam who is very sweet but WhoDat had an absolute rotter in her flock that she had to rehome over bullying issues. I would love some silver laced. After dealing with Campines nearly anything else has to be easier. :lau

I use hemp in the nesting boxes, sugar cane mulch in the coop & the deep litter method in my runs so everything gets thrown in the run: leaf litter, old coop bedding, mulch ~ whatever is lying around I think the girls might enjoy. They turn it all over foraging & I have lovely compost/manure...

You could try these people: https://www.backyardchickencoops.com.au/collections/chickens I found my supplier through them & have been very happy with the quality of the birds but I've never used this particular set up. May be worth asking. They have a chat window on the site & someone...

Yes it does ~ but the cyclone [even though it's still days away] is pushing the swell & tides up. We have weather warnings out all along the coast already due to wind & current ~ which doesn't mean it will make landfall, just that it's affecting our weather. My boys pro crab. Their gear box...

All quiet on the Eastern Front, Thank you. We are somewhat protected by a very large island to our east but the BOM is saying Thursday. Tides are super high so who knows.

Thanks. Hoping Oma stays out to sea as my coop isn't cyclone proof & we are renovating so bringing them inside is problematic.

Waiting to see what Oma will do. Currently our temp is 27C, Humidity @ 63% but you can see how much higher our tides are with a nearly full moon ~ & tide's not full yet. The brown water is where all the sea grass has been shifted from the usual high water mark ~ which is the leading edge on...

We don't actually have a garage. It's an odd house. The workshop area doesn't even have a door @ the present time. I only have 5 hens so am thinking of getting a big crate & hoping they'll only have to be crated for 24 hours max if Oma actually gets here. She may not. They don't often get...

Has anyone sat out a cyclone with chickens? While Oma may not get here [fingers crossed] I'm not confident my present coop would withstand a cyclone. For one thing it's not anchored to the ground. How should I prepare in the event of...?
