It finally cooled off today with a nice rain. I lost two birds last week due to extreme heat. When it gets to a certain temperature, there is really nothing else you can do. Also, we finally have blue skies.
This is how it looked on Friday. We were at the Wild Horses turn out. The picture below is on the Vantage Bridge. It felt like someone was sitting on your chest. The air quality was terrible.
It is currently 98 degrees here at 2 p.m. We are cooking everything on the George Forman or stove top. It is almost impossible to get the darn house cooled off if we use the oven.
I have been outside putting frozen pop bottles and milk jugs in all my coops. I spent the morning building a new...
Yep. Eastern Washington gets a tiny bit of wind. lol We have everything cemented, nailed, bolted, or bricked at our place. Also, the amount of snow this year would have collapsed any non-peaked roof.
@Leigti I am absent-minded. I forgot to ask you the name of the place in Spokane. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm going to the poor house buying one bag at a time. I have way too many chickens for a bag at a time. ... Maybe I need an intervention versus a feed supplier.. :)
I have looked through 10 pages of posts trying to find more info on the above quote. Did anyone find out the name of the place in Ellensburg? I can find all sorts of bulk feed in Eastern WA for other animals just not chickens. I can take up to a ton.
Del's is closing up here. I don't use them much. There is a North 40 and another feed store here. I am however looking for bulk layer feed. Anyone know where to buy or get it from?
I just realized that I am not a fan of change. The newly designed website takes some getting used to.
And it's been so long since I've had a chance to sit down this spring. I miss everyone. Hatching season is almost over and it seems winter barely left us.
I am excited just got my first two eggs in a month! The weather that we've having is terrible though. There is basically no dirt available. Everything is covered in deep icy snow. We had another 3 inches yesterday. No end in sight. I want to start hatching!
Your coop was the first thing that I saw when I logged on. I was thinking about that old song by Dr. Hook, "Cover of the Rolling Stone". Hinotori, you are on the cover of the Backyard Chickens!
Your flock is beautiful. I really like how you captioned the pictures and also identified your EE...
Mostly I guess I was looking for 'feel good' snacks or treats for them. I have multiple coops that are insulated and draft free. I am just a softy on my livestock. My husband says I'm a wimp and that they are all going to be fine. Still I know that I hate going outside to care for them...
I haven't been on in a while. It's hard find time in the evenings after doing all of my outside chores and working all day. I am sure most of you are lugging water or stressing about your animals. I am definitely not looking forward to another week of single digit and and below zero weather...
