If so, she might continue to pick at it and that is not good. That skin is very fragile to injury and the sun.
Some ointment is fine, but be aware if she's outside a fair bit now, or a lot, ointments will act like suntanning oil and increase the chances the new skin...

I second the Vetericyn. Like I mentioned before it's what I used on my young roo with the same type of injury, but I've also used it on lots of other farm animals for a variety of boo boos and injuries. It's good stuff, moisturizing, non-stinging, and will help things heal.
