I've been trying to get rid of a couple toms, a Narragansett, and a Chocolate, but people aren't willing to pay for them. Our feed prices jumped through the roof after our feed mill sustained a grain dust explosion middle of the winter.

I spent that on Athena when she was bit, I got lucky and the pharmacist gave us were meds for free because she was in awe of the relationship I had with that goofy bird

Update on Hedylogus: Save for a decent sized scab on his head, this little guy is healed and still thinks he has to sit with me at night. Sorry it's been awhile, we're trying to get our 5th Wheel Camper ready for winter habitation since my wife will be living in it full time while doing home...

I'm very allergic to horses but it was worth the suffering with Rocket. Haven't been in the saddle since. We had the kind of bond, I could think something and Rocket was doing it, I could fall asleep in the saddle and wake up at the barn. I have had the best experiences with animals. Turkeys...

Going off your handle may I assume you have spent some time in the saddle scouting for good hunting? I grew up watching reruns of the Gene Autry Show, and as a rancher was always in awe of the bond he had with Champ. I was lucky with Rocket

If it hadn't been for Mars and the others I probably wouldn't have any pets at all. I can't stand dogs, or cats, my horse passed away on me 11 years ago, cattle are fun to raise for eating, I've had a couple pet chickens and and couple ducks but no such bond as I have developed with these goofy...

20 years ago if you had asked me if I was going to have a bond with a turkey I would have said NO, that changed 6 years ago with Mars, 5 years ago that really changed with Neptune, and 4 years ago I realized I had an impossible bond with Athena. Now I have Artemis, Jubilee, and Hedylogus

Update on Hedylogus: Goofy bird is healing just fine! We were gone for a few days and this is what I get when I get home (3rd pictur). Him on my chest, foot on my neck.

We went to the city yesterday for blood work, and I haven't done a darn thing all day, the first day in months I haven't done something

You can go back through and see my posts, I've had some very special bonds with my birds. These birds are easy to love and hard to hold on to. Mars was the first, Artemis is the latest, and Hedylogus has decided I'm his whether I like it or not

Throw in the cattle operation, the heavy equipment, the logging, dealing with my wife's kidney disease, and my own work related injuries, it's amazing I get any sleep at all

Nothing like you have! I have to say I'm kind of jealous. We have 18 turkeys altogether, we have 7 full size chickens, 1 bantam hen, 3 bantam roosters, and a 23 inch tall Chochin Rooster that was cage trained when we got him

Two Royal Palms, 3 Bourbon Reds, 3 Chocolate, 3 Narragansett, a Black of some kind, 3 blue Slates (including Hedylogus, my new little buddy), and a 5 or 6 year old Broad Breasted Bronze Hen that lives in our hospital ward. We're trying to start a rescue, and rehabilitation center.

Yes sir! I think he's already plumb spoiled. This afternoon I barely got the chance to sit before he was on the chair looking at me begging to lay on me

He's gone from staying on the bed in our camper to seeking me out to lay on my chest. I kind of think He's going to lose his snood, but that's fine, it doesn't affect his quality of life. He's a pretty tough and smart little guy. He's sitting on my chest as I write this, kind of hard to type...

Poor Hedylogus is on the mend, I may have to take him in to get his ears reopened, but he's doing good otherwise. We paint him with antimicrobial No Peck every day, it smells like grape soda, and stains everything purple. We have Vetrycine as well. He has decided my chest is good place to lay.

Guess we all have something we worry about. Though I'm not sure I'd be too comfortable tube feeding either. Hedylogus is definitely getting better, and is happier at home. He keeps himself in our bedroom in our 5th wheel camper trailer. We have blankets over the windows so it's fairly dark...
