There are no rules around discharging fire arms where I am, unless you are aiming at a person. They frown on that. Also, no deer out of season, but target practice is okay in our neck of the woods. Some of us don't like that.
He is the sweetest rooster. He takes good care of the girls and gets then into the coop in the evening. I don't know what we would do without him. I know he would protect his girls from any predator, but hopefully no predators can get to my beauties.
My favorite chicken is a rooster. Pippi was a single hatch out of 13 eggs that I had shipped. The eggs didn't get here in very good shape. However, I wanted a Buff Orpington rooster so I was happy to see this little guy hatch. Here he is after the hard work of getting out of that shell.

How old are they? I have found, in my flock, that chicks are very friendly until they get to POL, then they may squat for me in the beginning, but they slowly pull away. This happens faster now that I have roosters. They attach to a rooster when they hit POL, and I'm second fiddle from then...
