    That proves my point. The dog is afraid of the shock collar and you wont have any control if you dont have the collar to grab onto.

    I would actually suggest against this. Leave the collar on whether you're using it or not, otherwise a smart dog will learn that the collar is related to the shocks and will misbehave when the collar is off.

    it definitely depends what your birds are accustomed to. living next to the dog may have desensitized them. but yeah, I imagine they wont be chomping at the bit to get into the dog yard

    Oh, I dont know if she would have made the connection between the chicken and staying outside all night. They dont tend to associate things that are far apart.
