Yep! It's a pellet feed, if that affects anything. I had the water about two inches above it, went downstairs to get cheesecloth, came back, and it had already absorbed all of that! I put another inch of water in and let it sit.
Oh shoot....just realized that I impulsively used my big jar to make a faux fish tank...(not a real fish, i'd never keep a fish in such a small tank)
I literally did this tonight and entirely forgot about fermenting :th My brain has taken a vacation.
Same here! I like a recipe for any treat mix with 3 parts layer feed, 1 part scratch, and 1 part plain oatmeal. It's predominantly what they're eating already, but with some fun treats added in.
No problem! We made it because when we were renting our birds, we were given a feeder meant for chicks, so we needed an easy, cheap solution. We have a big rock in the bottom so they don't knock it over.
I want to try it but I'm a bit nervous...might make another milk jug feeder and offer fermented and dry next to each other and see which they prefer. I watched a quick video and it said that you have a jar, feed, and distilled water, cover with cheesecloth, and let sit. How long do you let it...
