Well they've now been out there for a few nights and all seems well. I did elevate the lower of the ramps with blocks and they seem just fine using them. The first night I did manually tossed them into the roosting bars because they were hanging out in the doorway. Now they seem fine though.

So far so good. They're very happy having such wider and higher roosting bars than are in their brooder. The random plywood in the back here was just temporarily blocking the nesting boxes.

This fencing was someone else's trash - so for free it will add a little more white/bright to the area. In this picture it is just leaning so could get a feel for how it will look once affixed.

The back of the door isn't very pretty but those plywood scraps really helped with rigidity.

Showing how simple the "litter keeper" is - just a hinged board that can be dropped down when the doors are open to more easily removing bedding.

The ramp hooks - just some pieces of metal strapping bent to hook through the doors. Simple and cheap but should stop the ramps from being knocked down while keeping them easy to move for opening the doors.

Yeah, I believe the block will be a good first step. I also had someone elsewhere suggest to build a small platform on the fence/wire-side (essentially to like the landing-platform AmeliaBedelia suggested above, but at the "block"/low-end of the ramp. So it can be another hide-under/hangout...

Yes, our height was purely based on a height that everyone from the 6 year old to my height could reach comfortably - while still trying to leave more room underneath that could be cleaned easily (and eventually to hang some of the feeder/waterer/toys with. Not much in thought of chicken...

Darn - makes sense but just another thing I'd not thought of yet. Not sure how I'd prevent that short of expanding the covered area out which means extending roofline and gutters or making an unroofed extension out to where the little garden area is now. Probably wouldn't be bad to extend that...

Yea, I think they look steep too, unfortunately I was so focused on "human-accessibility" for the main room area that I did not look at how much run-out I had to extend ramps through. They're not on a 45* but it is not low-vert. They're not quite to the far wall (close side) - about 1' away...

Just some minor things still to finish. Here's the start of the door into the run. This'll get hardware cloth and paint too before it's done.

Only partially coop-related, but got the first bit of gutter up today. Will help keep some splash out of the run and went up on the newly replaced trim/fascia.

After experimenting with a few different types of hardware - this ended up being the cheapest solution my children could reach as well as that didn't leave too much flex due to the double-hinge design. (Yes, it'll get paint.)

I got the other door trimmed, hinged, and hung today. It is getting closer little bits at a time. The cords in the left door are just that - cords where I have tools hanging out inside for now as I work.
