I think March is a little early For trying to start anything In a greenhouse unless there is some kind of heat in it at night. Last year's calendar showed that we had 10 degrees in the middle of April. We will usually start radishes and cabbages late in April and we will put tomatoes in there...
I saw your ad. I believe your chicks are worth it! And your turkeys are beautiful.
I know what the McMurray catalog charges. But the feed store here is selling pullets for $3. I'm selling my chicks as straight run. But then I always sell my stuff too cheap. :idunno
One of my best hatches ever for chicks! 20 eggs went into lockdown and 17 have hatched so far. One more egg just pipped a couple of hours ago and should hatch by evening. 90% hatch if the last one makes it. :wee
I have had 2 cross beaks over the years, both of them Faverolles. They are usually the sweetest chicks there is to try to raise. They will usually do pretty good for the fist 2 months with special care. But there comes a point where they just can't get enough food and they will slowly starve to...
We had misty rain most of the day yesterday. It filled a rain barrel. This morning it's more of the same but it should be ending this morning. Everything is turning green up here from the snow and moisture we've had the last few weeks. :wee
That tom looks pretty sad. It doesn't look life threatening but it is a mess. Will you put anything on the cuts?
I had a pure white rooster that looked bloody like that a few years ago. Since he was tame I just put him in the sink and gave him a bath. Somehow I don't picture you putting a turkey...
-19 here this morning but the sun is shining and I'm optimistic that warmer days are ahead of us.:bow
My guineas and chickens have been confined for a week now. I think poultry gets a little stir crazy sometimes just like we do. I gave them a treat yesterday, a whole flake of hay. As soon as...
Merry Christmas to all my BYC friends! :frow
Lets hope for a better Christmas next year when we won't have to be separated from all our friends and families. ;)

It's a Bushnell that I got from Amazon. I think it was around $100 but they had a lot cheaper ones than that. I just went with a name brand since it was recommended. I was surprised at how easy it was to set up and use.
Looks like your hen is having a hard molt. They are beautiful birds when fully feathered.
We've been having a lot of fun with our new trail cam. Never knew what all came around here at night until now.
