    DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Sad to say, I only got the 3/9 under my broody. I think her not eating or drinking really affected her hatch rate. Grateful for the 3 though!

    DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Today is hatching day for us!! Got 3 this morning, 6 eggs still under but with no pips. Fingers crossed! Barnyard mix, so I have 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 black right now. :)

That's what I'm worried about too. That's why my broody is in the garage in a dog crate. Here's hoping flock reintegration isn't too tedious. Tricky stuff.

    DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Barred Rock Rooster with RIR, EE, Americauna, White Leghorn. Nothing super fancy. Not sure how winter broodiness is going to go anyhow, but it's worth a shot I suppose. Anyone else using winter broody hens?

    DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Whoo hoo! Joining the party with a broody RIR. I got 12 fertile eggs from a friend and put them under my broody girl in a dog crate in the garage to help with temps because it's in the teens Fahrenheit here. Never done this-- always did day-olds. Here's hoping I get a chick or two!
