Thank you, I appreciate everyone on this post so much. I have...

Incubating duck eggs- advice pretty please.

We have moved the first 4 into the brooder ... we now have another two hatched in the incubator ... so just one to go I’m terrible, I still sit here looking at these thinking of all that happened yesterday- wishing the poor baby made it , that we didn’t help, or that we did help but it was...

So in love already. Any one know welsh harlequins quite well and maybe could help with sexing? I definitely have one girl and one boy but two are really tough. Also is this amount of humidity/condensation ok for the others still yet to hatch? :)

Incubating duck eggs- advice pretty please.

We now have 4 so far ... however it is very cramped in incubator with 4 ducklings, their shells and still 3 others not hatched. Should I remove the shells or just wait until these are dry and fluffy and move to brooder? I am aware welsh harlequins are self sexing in the first couple days ... so...

Incubating duck eggs- advice pretty please.

Thank you, I am still so upset but I know even if we didn’t intervene it was unlikely the baby would have made it as it looked quite squished and did appear to struggle- I have learned a lot from it so will be better prepared next time. On a plus, 5.40am I’ve been woken up to a hatched little...

Incubating duck eggs- advice pretty please.

Thank you, I cant help but blame myself atm. Im sure I will feel better soon. Others seem to be doing ok, bit of noise and more pips on some. I cant see if any have been shrink wrapped trying to help the little one out but I for one atm am not even daring to look or assist or anything. x

Its been invaluable in the sense of learning but I would rather have the duckling here happy healthy and alive. He looked perfect otherwise just upside down and squished. Wish I knew where his bill was sooner but I tried and he just never gave us any hint. there was no chips inside just little...

Incubating duck eggs- advice pretty please.

so everyone sad update, baby passed. I'm extremely sad about it, more than I thought I would be but I have tried to use it as a learning thing. He was definitely upside down and head was actually quite squished- otherwise he was positioned perfect. You could see he had attempted to...

Would you say looking at that its upside down? im not sure what else I can do, to even try find the bill resulted in most its shell gone, i tried to encourage him/her to tap but nothing. The membrane is all stuck to the shell the other end so with all those vains it looks completely impossibly...

Not sure this pic any better. Every now and then it kinda pushes on itself but it’s like it just can’t not sure if thats because of all the vains or just isn’t ready but it’s definitely upside down I would say. I can’t actually picture how it is .

If you look closely you can see it’s two legs. The yolk, and how much my husband chipped away looking for the bill before we thought -oh sh** this is too much. Veins everywhere which is good but not now he’s missing so much shell and is apparently upside down :-( Literally feel we had this...

Incubating duck eggs- advice pretty please.

Okay so we moistened his membrane more and felt for bill. That is definitely two legs ... I chipped the shell away and well chipped probably way to much away before deciding I wasn’t finding his bill - yolk is completely I absorbed looking at it - all red veins and hardly any movement - I...

If the bill is where we are debating, there is a big vein over it. I’m going to be checking it again shortly and using the coconut oil again so I will have a feel. I just hate opening this incubator x

I will do- right now I’m not touching until I work out if this other bit is his leg or bill because quite frankly I just can’t tell. One minute I think leg , the next I think bill so I’ve decided for now, I will wait x

Thank you for replying. I’m just so nervous about my other 7 ... honestly my husband has said I’m not allowed to do this again in a hurry as I’m so invested and emotional haha. I’m literally terrified now that I will loose them. In my head I’m seeing them shrink wrapped already. The little...

Thank you :) I will do as you say and keep checking etc. When should the veins start receding ? There quite a few that look thick then lots of little tiny ones x

You may possibly be right and that could be the beak, it’s pushed out a little a few times and think beak is definite possibility. Big vein going right across it. I’m starting to feel so much worse , as if it’s not mapositioned etc and just genuinely wasn’t ready I would never have done this...
