The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

Have you bred him before? If he hasn't had fertility problems before he may just be taking a little more time to "gear up" for breeding season. I think older cocks take a bit more time to become fertile when breeding season comes around.

I have bred him before and he has done fine my younger is also having the same problem so they probably are taking longer to gear up.

Hello everyone! I am still pretty new to chickens and started out with Dominique pullets. I had three, but now two for under a year( love them to death!) and we wanted to expand our VERY small flock a little more. I know they won't be anything fancy, fancy, but I still think they are terribly cute. So, I wanted to put up a picture of the two little chicks we got this weekend! We hadn't planned on getting Silver laced Wyandottes, were actually at the feed store for Easter Eggers, but when we saw these little guys( hopefully girls) we had a change of heart. I'm sure the people at the feed store thought we were crazy looking up this and that on our phones over the chicks, but we decided they would work perfectly for us in our small flock.

It is nice there is a very active thread for the breed! If I have any questions it will be nice to have a place to go. If'n ya all don't mind? Reading through the thread I saw so many beautiful chickies! I hope mine are even as half as pretty! We researched (at the store, over the bin of chicks, like huge nerds we are) they should be great foragers and as friendly as our Doms. I hope so! Either way they have found a home with us. So cute, and may I say way, WAY more chill than our Dom chicks ever were! I think I am already in love!

There will be color variations. Completely normal. Sometimes you have really dark babies other times super light ones. Doesn't really suggest anything for coloration or sex from what I have seen. You can compare it to the Andalusia blue gene. There are many different variations of blue but they are all still blue in the end.

Something I noticed was the really dark slw chicks had thicker black lacing than the light colored ones.
