Very aggressive hen. (Hitler Hen!)

Ok, so I got a free chicken to add to my flock via the neighbor across the street.

They claimed the owner had passed away and this "sweet" egg laying hen needed a new home.

I promptly set up my dog kennel/ quarantine zone with food, water and new shavings, put her in when she was delivered to my house at around 8pm.

She has turned out to be a very aggressive bird. She will peck and attack my hand whenever I go into to replace the food/water.

I have tried the tap on the head. Holding the beak. Holding her down. All this does it make her angrier and more hostile.


Today she rushed me and "rushed" back and pulled her out of the dog kennel and started chasing her around the room scaring the bejesus out of her. That is the only thing that seems to work, cruel as it may sound.



Is this the right course of action? My BR girls have never ever been aggressive towards me. So very confused.

If I cant break this she will end up being "processed" and fried up for dog treats, id like to avoid that but I refuse to give another person this "Hitler" hen.

I'm really not laughing at the thought of you trying to deal with Ms. Hitler! I responded to your other post about breed/gender. She appears to be an oriental breed specifically designed for fighting. This doesn't mean she is mean necessarily. She has most likely not been handled much or ever. For major aggression, I recommend "pinless peepers". Google them. They work.

I will def try these as my final resort. I honestly would like to save her and give her a good home.

My dogs on the other hand... Love pan fried bird treats.
