The West Central Ohio Poultry Clubs Spring Show for 2014 has expanded. We have moved to the Allen County Ohio Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio. It's a great location with farm stores, restaurants, groceries and hotels within 1/2 mile of the fairgrounds. For 2014 we will have 4 connected buildings. We have reorganized the show management to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible. Our show last year was big and we are now ready for growth with our new location. Last year there were around 1,500 birds at the show. It doubled from the previous year and we expect significant growth in entries this year, too.

We are having a double show, so that the participants birds can be judged twice in one day, by separate judges. This gives everyone involved in their clubs and the APA and ABA a chance to have double the points in one day and it provides the opportunity for those not interested in points to have two different opinions of their birds. What a great way to start the show season.

This year, there will be a dedicated area with educational activities for kids, FFA 4H, advisor, and those just wanting to learn about chickens. Our speakers will share years of knowledge about raising and managing poultry. The activities will rang in interest from those just getting started to those that have years of experience

There will also be an area for sale items including supplies, cages, chicks, ducks, turkeys, chickens, eggs, etc..., and small animals such as rabbits. Animals that are for sale will be inspected by staff to make sure they are healthy. For chickens -- they must be NPIP certified or tested on site. If there are larger animals you have to sell, contact us.

It's going to be a great event this year, and we hope to see you here.

The site has been updated with the current registration forms and catalog. We are also on facebook at http://facebook.com/wcopc.

In addition to the show there will be a pigeon show, judged by Larry Gardner. The registration form for the pigeon show will be available on January 5, 2015

Last year in was a single poultry show and there were about 1500 poultry on exhibit an about 400 to 500 people through the buildings.

This year we have added a double poultry show, the pigeon show to the existing show and on top of that we have added a swap at a good time of year and in a location that will draw guests. The show is being advertised in the poultry press and extensively on facebook and by word of mouth. We are already getting a very good response to the swap registrations.

We are hoping to triple the attendance of of people visiting through the people coming just to shop in the swap area.

I was just looking at the registration form on your site. Does the $5 entry fee cover both shows or is it $5 per bird per show? I apologize if I missed the answer to that in the documentation but didn't see it.

Thanks

Sorry, it wasn't more clear on the form. We will put something on there to explain it a little better.

The Fee is $5.00 per bird. Birds are judged twice for the $5.00.

The first show (first judging) is an open show and a junior show.

The second show is a combined show (juniors + open = all judged as open)

We have a speaker speaking about Getting Started in Poultry and Backyard Poultry and another about incubation.

If you know anyone with pigeons, spread the word for those too.

We've already received a good response for the swap too. If you know people looking for fair projects, please send them our way.

Looking forward to seeing you.

I am new to poultry shows and swaps, but a breeder has offered to bring a couple chicks I want to this show. My question is....Is there a way to find out what people are bringing for sale? A list somewhere maybe? I'd like to get a couple more chicks while I'm there.

As it gets closer to the date we will put a list of pre-registered swapper items on at http://wcopc.com/swap

Right now we know there should be a lot of pigeons, chickens, and ducks. From the calls we received, there should also be goats, horse supplies, pot belly pigs, feed dealers, poultry suppliers, etc...

From the calls we've been receiving we should have a lot of ducks for sale at the show. Chickens too,

This is going to be another nice sized show.

If you are just getting started with poultry we will have speakers at 12:00 about backyard poultry and getting started with chickens, and one at 1:30 about hatching and incubating eggs.
