Help!! I have had several egg yolks like this. These eggs aren't old enough to have gone bad and they have absolutely no smell. What could be causing this?

Where were they stored? I'm guessing that it's diet related. Do they free range?? How have the eggs been since these ones?? I've heard that acorns in the diet can cause discoloration of the yolk, Also, the mineral balance being off in the feed can cause yolk discoloration.

They were stored unwashed in the fridge. Our chickens are not free range. They are fed mainly table scraps and old fruits and veggies. They are supplemented with some feed. There have been more like.

Idk. I never thought to figure out if they were all from the same chicken. I will have to start watching that. Thx!

You might want to send that photo to your local county extension office or your closest University that has an Agriculture program. Also do a google search re: discolored egg yolks. good luck in solving the mystery. I had a few mystery yolks in my flock where there'd be darker spots in the yolk, and the consistency of those spots would be thicker. I finally found out that it was b/c I was setting my bowl of eggs on the window sill (in the sun) for a few days until I had enough eggs to fill a carton.

I'd be finding out which hen is laying those and cull her.
