Duck leg injury

It appears we have an injured leg. Our duck wont bear much weight on it if any. However she swims ok for a bit. We dont know what happened but it appears she was in the wrong place at the wrong time during a bit of roughhousing between my two dogs. My ducks are not afraid of the dogs and the dogs have not ever shown any aggression but they do get rough with eachother at times and we think the ducks were to close. NO blood or mass amount of missing feathers. She is eating just fine and drinking but we want to make sure we treat her appropriately. Her leg does not show any outward sign of injury nor does it appear broken but she wont walk on it.

what is the procedure for this.. FYI the other duck was un injured aside from his friend being hurt he wont leave her side.

also we have no idea if they are male or female.. so we assume.

First put your ducks in a safe enclosure to give her a bit of rest in case she has a bad sprain. rest is one of the things we recommend with any leg injury. Then water therapy where she can float and take pressure off her leg but don't let her jump in our out. So you'll have to be there to watch. [don't want to make the injury worse. ] You can also soak her leg using a bucket in some nice warm Epsom salt water take about 1/2 cup of ES and put into a gallon of warm water make sure it's dissolved real well them place the duck into the bucket feet first, hold her there for as long as she'll let you at least 5-10 minutes [reason you want to use a bucket or pan to soak is you don't want her to drink the ES water it is also a laxative. ] Hopefully with a few days rest with some TLC she'll start walking then running. I would suggest you keep dogs and ducks separated if you can't be with them, because sometimes dogs get carried away when playing and can turn on something other than themselves when excited. I have dogs myself . Please let us know how she is doing.

Would not hurt to give poultry vitamins every three or four days, for a couple of weeks. For mine, I dab a tiny bit of Traumeel on the leg at bedtime.
