These two are stumping me. I've read conflicting sexing info regarding hackle feather shape, wattles and combs and I'm questioning if they are both roos because of this or just one of them or neither. One has rounder hackle feathers and a flat comb area with a wattle and they are very pink...
I ordered some pullets a few weeks back and am worried one may be a cockerel and I can’t have another one!
I ordered a few different breeds so she’s my only (and first) SS and she’s starting to look a little suspicious lol
I’ve never had issues ordering from them in the past they’ve always been...
IDK where to post this, and this is the closest topic I can find, so here we go!
I just hatched some chicks, I want to attempt to try and sex them and see what % of them I guessed correctly. I’ve done feather sexing, sexlink sexing (for fun) vibe sexing, and Apperance sexing. Any more...
Hello! I bought bird as a pullet - I didn’t get to pick out which one as the seller had these two already set aside. Once I got home I started wondering if this was actually a rooster?
Thoughts? Hatched in March! Trying to decide if I send off for DNA testing since i can’t have roosters at my...
Hi all, can someone tell me what breed this pullet is and confirm that she is in fact a girl?
I got her from TSC and her comb and waddles have developed a lot quicker than everyone else’s and they’re so big and very red. Was hoping that means she was going to lay soon but notice today what...
Hi everyone,
I’ve searched for the answer high and low but can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.
On average, how long does it take for a flock of hens to accept a rooster? I know for chickens meeting chickens it can take 2 or so weeks. But is introducing a male any different? I’m assuming...
I was shocked to see our silkie rooster we have had for only a year was dead in the grass today. He was healthy and lively only yesterday and seemed totally fine! No blood or signs of a fight or anything. Any ideas?
Not sure on this, but I might have a breeding pair here. They’re about 7 weeks, and they’re identical otherwise, but one has a slightly bigger pea comb, and has more comb coloration than the other. Idk how reliable the come coloration/size is as a predictor…
Tsc was selling chicks labeled Sapphire Gem Pullets but I think this one looks more like a Barred Rock and now I'm not sure it's not a cockerel. First pic is at five weeks
My (hopeful) ladies are 4-6 weeks old (wasn't given a clear age when purchased). What do you think? Hens or roos? I know silkies are almost impossible to tell but I attached pictures of ours anyways. The rest are easter eggers. Bonus points for insight on the easter egger's possible breeds they...
So I got some GLD’s from tsc and they’re about 7-8 weeks old.
Suppose to be pullets but this one’s comb and waddle look very red compared to her other 2 sisters.
Like RED.
I attatched some pics but I don’t think the pics do it any justice at how red it really is! The other 2 combs and waddles...
I bought some pullets offline and these Welsummers are a little over 2 weeks old. These 2 are much larger than the other Welsummer chick that I got in my shipment and noticed a comb already so just wanted confirmation I was sent pullets instead of cockrels?
My big australorp roo Pecker is a gentleman but his two sons are not. I’m thinking of making one Chris-Chan because he is… “enamored” with his mother and she isn’t reciprocating those feelings. The other has targeted one of my RIR hens and refuses to even flirt with other hens and mates her...
So confused as to whether these "girls" really are girls .
Balvaders are 12wks - the smaller one has flashes of green in their neck but the other one is huge with tree trunk legs.
The Rhode island red is 10wks and has some beautiful green feathers under the brown 😞
We've had chickens before...
Out of the 6 chicks I received, now they are 7 weeks old and I’m starting to doubt if they are all pullets.
Daphne my EE And copper is my black copper Maran. Daphne is larger and when she screams out her voice is different from the others. She’s always been the biggest chick but the most timid...
Hey y’all,
I have 1-2 Pullets that our main cockrel always courts around the yard, dances for and happily mates with them with their approval.
They even roost together at night.
Unfortunately this cockrel has become over confident in his roll and decided to attempt to flog my daughter twice...
I’m sure this has been discussed before but for some reason I have a really hard time using the search engine on BYC.
Nothing ever comes up of relevance to what I’m trying to search. I usually wind up googling what I’m looking for then actually getting close to an article on BYC that I need...
