    Moving

Good morning! Has anyone moved long distance with their flock? We are moving to a different state and it will take approximately 18 hours. I was going to put my girls in a large dog crate and stop every few hours to give them food and water but my husband thinks it will stress them to much. Any...

    How to Move with Chickens?!

Yay! We just purchased 5 acres to get more chickens! But... How do I get them there and set up a coop in one day?! We know we're closing on our current home the same day we're closing on our new home, so I have to pack up my chickens, coop, and the entire house and be out in one day...

Will chickens survive moving from 500 elevation to 2800??

Getting ready to move across country, 1 day 4 hour drive. I'm sure they can handle the drive itself, but can they handle an elevation change that dramatically??? I figured my ducks will as they naturally fly pretty high anyway. Any advice appreciated

    I'm new here!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am certainly not new to chickens. Our oldest girls are about 6 years old. We ordered chickens about 6 and half years ago through an online catalog. Since, we rescued a rooster and eventually we've raised a few of our own chicks...

Moving out of Alaska with 2 hens

Hi all! I’m not sure if this is even possible, but I am very attached to my two serama hens and wanted to see if anyone has advice on this. It seems that most airlines won’t consider letting me bring my two hens on a flight (first to Seattle, ultimate destination is Idaho), and I don’t know if a...

    Emergency chicken move need advice!

Our house burned down last weekend. We are new 'chicken parents' of 3 lovely sexlink hens. We built them a nice coop and seriously predator-proofed it as there may be raccoons, coyotes, etc in the area. We may have to move the chickens to another property over the winter till the house is...

Looking for suggestions - moving with chickens!

Hubby and I have had enough of the suburbs and have bought a small farm in Georgia. The move will take 10-11 hours. I have four hens going with us. I’m putting the coop on a trailer. I’m going to travel at night when the hens will most likely sleep. Do you think they would do better in their...

Combine, cull and move ll at once?

I know chickens don’t like change but I have three changes to make: 1) remove rooster from flock of 6 3-month olds, 2) remove non-laying hen from flock of 3 2-year-olds, 3) Combined the flocks, and 4) reconfigure their housing. Should I do these things separately in a particular order, or all...

    Moving ducks to Japan?

I may be moving to Japan in the next year or so for work, and I desperately want to take my two ducks with me. I can't seem to find Japanese homes with any sort of yard. Does anybody have any experience keeping ducks in Japan? I know there are safety precautions that must be taken before their...
