¿Cool brooding? (No electricity - hot water based)

Hi everyone!!! I am starting with chicks for the first time and I've been researching about the cool brooding method cause I dont have acces to enough electricity to power a heat lamp for weeks. What is this method all about? What is the routine/steps to be taken? How long does it last the hot water/how often is it necesary to chane the water? DO I HAVE TO WAKE UP AT NIGHT TO HEAT THE WATER? All the info is useful and I'd love to hear all your comments and advice!!! Thanksss!!!!

Hi and welcome to BYC. I have never heard of the technique you mention. This is an alternative for brooding without electricity - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1133855/a-wool-hen-creating-one-today. I hastily made one during a power outage and it worked ok.

I'm not familiar with cool brooding either, but it looks like @Pork Pie has a workable idea on how to keep chicks warm without electricity (if it's not too cold temperature-wise).
