➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

My mam has decided she wants to try and hatch some shop bought eggs. I’ve already told her that chances are if any are fertile it’ll only be the odd one but she wants to give it a go anyways.

I’ve told her the quails eggs that are there have the highest chance of being fertile as they tend to come from smaller scale suppliers that renew their own stock so there is a higher chance of a Male being in with them.

She wants to give the blue chickens eggs a go though
Could you incubate some fresh fertile eggs at the same time so if a chick does hatch it won't be alone?

I would but we haven’t got any and my incubators are only small. If one did hatch on it’s own I can easily get a day old chick to go with it.

We haven’t done it yet though, she’ll probably be trying it out in a few months time :)

They aren’t Quail but you guys are the best ones to talk about hatching with so my 6 in the incubator have 6 days left.

I had to check them today since I’m not back home till Tuesday and I can’t open the incubator after then in case any have started to pip.

Looks like 5 out of 6 are growing strong, one I’m unsure of but it’s still developed enough for me to want to leave it in. It doesn’t smell though so that’s good. I’m leaving all 6 in until hatch day.

Some have saddled air cells but they are just getting left in and keeping my fingers crossed.

They were won in a competition and posted so hence why the air cells are gammy on some.

Pictures aren’t in order, I’ve forgot what’s what after putting them back in from the photos.

What's going to hatch out of them?

Keeping my fingers crossed and not getting my hopes up just yet but had a phone call from a man in Germany who said he’s going to try and get me a pair of Mearns Quails at a better price 🤞🏻
How long of a trip for you is it to Dublin?
