They say 2-3 years. Thats been my experience, but Im a fish killer
If you want a fish tank, go BIG. They are easier to care for and you have wiggle room for mistakes.

I've probably cought a hundred of them now
I try to earn their trust. Now some if them are quite comfortable with me picking them up and walking around with them.
My dad had green anoles in his yard so he would catch them then put them by his ear. The lizards would bite his ear and dangle like earrings

Me and my friends did that when we were kids. Then you were sent out to play and expected to entertain yourself with your friends.
