Pics
They sure are! I got mine from a local breeder and I've seen others with blue laced red barnevelders that look pretty much just like my Hilda. :)
yea thats cool at a first i thought she was a hatchery bird but then i looked closer and noticed that she didnt have any double lacing and i was like oh thats cool

Is Cochin is the same as Pekin bantam?

I have 2 Pekin hens and 1 Pekin frizzle rooster. They are small, some feet feather, but not as much as Cochin.

Some on the google returned say Cochin and Pekin bantam are the same, just call different name in different country.

I am backyard chickens so not knowledgeable in the chicken field.
I think Cochin and Pekin bantam are not the same breed, but look closely similar, but not exactly. There is no standard size Pekin.

My understanding is that "pekin" is more a UK and commonwealth usage - what in the US would be a bantam cochin.

Pippin at 12 weeks. I really need to get a more recent picture of him, he's 6.5 months now.

Pippin is handsome. He looks like a Pekin.
Thanks! I just went out to check for eggs (going below freezing tonight,) and actually managed to get a halfway decent pic of him as he is now. I'd be very happy with this pic if not for the background. Interesting to see what difference a couple of months makes. Pippin is a black bantam cochin from show lines.

He is so grown and handsomeā¤ļø. I love that black sheen feather.ā¤ļøMy Pekin hens have same feather like that, I do love the big artichoke they carry at the end.

Does your Pippin crows much? My hens are very quiet, the rooster crow a bit loud

so bantam cochins dont actually exist they are pekins a true bantam that doesnt have a larger counterpart also the foot feathering depends on the quality pekins should still have pretty heavy feathering on the shanks
