Help! Silkie chick hatched yesterday, looking great. Just started leaking yolk fluid from area between vent and leg. What do I do? Is this serious?

I am so sorry I don't know, but I hope the little guy is ok!

wait a little bit before bumping it up. Let me research it for you and see if I can find anything. Patience grasshopper. patience

Ok. Is her abdomen swollen? Ruptured yolk sac, possibly? I don't know very much about this, though. Or what causes it.

Another chick in the hatch has not absorbed the yolk sack and has a large abdomen, but this silkie looked normal. It is not the navel or vent. It looks like a puncture from another chicks egg tooth on the area between the vent and leg.

If there's no blood then I bet it will be ok. Keep a close watch, see if eats and drinks. So many unusual things can happen to babies that come out of eggs!
