This speckled Sussex is 4 a little over 4 weeks old and I am starting to suspect that it’s a rooster. It has a bigger redder wattles and comb than the other. Also it has not grown in its tail feathers like the others. Finally it gets a little aggressive with the others. However was definitely the most timid with me earlier on. Debating weather these traits just come from the breed or the sex. Do you guys think it’s a roo or a pullet?

I'm following with interest. I have two 2.5 -3.5 week old SS. Not much to show on mine at the moment. I have noticed one has tail feathers, the other one has none but that's about it.

They are both quite friendly. Tail feathered chick has a slightly large comb. Neither shows any wattle sign.

I'm just at the very beginning of learning but I would hazard a guess at Roo just because the wattle growth seems quite big for 4+ weeks. From what I've read SS are notoriously hard to sex.

I think it's a cockerel. The comb and wattles are really big for a 4 week old in my opinion, but I'm still learning.
For reference, this is my speckled sussex at 10.5 weeks. She had the slowest growing tail feathers of my entire flock, but I'm pretty sure it's a pullet:

Based on the color of the comb and wattles, the fact that it has wattles at 4 weeks, the heavy legs, and the upriigth posture that is a boy. To me, tail feathers don't mean anything at that age.

A full body shot showing legs, posture, and profile would help but at 10 weeks and that color of comb, probably a girl.
