1 week old baby chicks and sand for dust bathing

Hi Everyone,
I would like to offer my 1 week old baby chicks a dish of sand to dust bath in. We have heavy clay soil, so there really is no dirt to dig up. My question is: do you use brand new sand out of the bag or is it better to scoop it out of the run with "native" cultures so to speak?

I would give them a mixture. A little brand new sand, some of your clay soil with a plug of grass or dandelion and sifted sand from the run. I assume the sand in the run has other chickens correct?
