1 week old chick is tiny, peeping constantly...t

Oh, I feel so sorry for you!

You mentioned you had kids, how are they taking it? I had to deal with the loss of all of my pullets at the same time, so I know how it feels to loose a chicken. Is the silkie that adopted it seem weird that he's gone?

We are en route from Disney, so my brother just told me about it this morning. Gonna tell the kids tomorrow, but I had already told them he might not make it. I was pretty sure he wouldn't, but after almost 3 weeks of living, I felt like he was a real fighter. Poor baby. He was part of a trio of chocolate Orpingtons I got from a lady in town. I wonder if it was a weird genetic thing, since it seems like its nearly impossible to get perfect genetics in the U.S. no more rare, fancy breeds for me. I know it happens to all breeds, but I think if we just stick with hearty and heritage breeds we will have a,lower mortality rate. Thanks everyone for all the support :(
