I have 2 10 week olds that have a rattling and gurgling sound when breathing. No other symptoms. No swollen or running eyes, no sneezing, no coughing, NOTHING. They are eating and drinking. No other birds in my flock (including 20 more 10 week olds that are from the same hatch) are having these symptoms. What is it? What should I treat with? Doxycycline is unavailable at all of the feed stores around me. I do have sulmet and vitamins on hand. Help please!

I have had some before that show the classic rattling and gurgling and no sneezing or coughing etc, believe me it will come in time. I made the mistake twice of not treating it.
My advice is get some Doxycyline as soon as ant treat them all at once. That way ones that have it yet are not showing signs yet will be cured too. Remember you cannot eat any eggs after trating for 10 days.
sorry to bring bad news but hopefully you will get to it and snub it out. The last time i bought one in with snuffles i kept it apart and treated it from day one. It later turned out to be my best layer. fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the reply. I just ordered Doxycycline from McMurray. Should I just treat the other 10 week olds or my entire flock?

I just integrated the babies with my big girls 3 days ago. None of the big girls are showing any like symptoms. The babies are not laying yet, so it's no big deal to treat all of the babies at once.

If it was me, i would treat them all. I had 5 babies once and they all died because i treated them too late, about 3 weeks later my rooster showed signs so i took him out and treated him. He survived then another couple of weeks later a hen showed signed etc so i treated them all and had no more problems.
I know its a real pain not getting the eggs etc but it will be worth it when then all survive
