My 10 week old polish girl (?) has filled in with some rather large red-hued wattles. They sprouted this same color around 6 wks or so...

She's always been kind of the alpha of my 3 (apparently I'm not so great at chicken math 😅) and seems to be testing more lately, but the other two girls, close in age, seem to challenge right back more often now (could be the summer heat making them cranky ??)

She definitely appears to be a pullet given her rounded fro (any skinny feathers are from watermelon lol) and common slouch/crouched standing stance - never upright, but am I starting to see saddle feathers come in?

Would your answer change if she/he has no comb? 😅 Verrry slight redding around the top of her beak, where it meets her head, but no comb or growth. No crowing either.

I also think she may older than mentioned. We got our chicks May 30 from a local farm store so no telling how long they were there before we got them, but she had a few wing feathers already when we did, and has always been a step ahead in development compared to my other 2. All her feathers are full and round, unlike everything I've read regarding cockerels says they will be thin and pointy. Even the suspected saddle feathers are full and round...and that cockerels develop slower compared to pullets. Ie tail feathers, she was the first to sprout any of my 3.

I can't seem to find anything regarding when pullets get wattles, except that they turn red close to egg laying maturity.

I just really hope she's not a roo. This one is my son's chicken, he'll be so crushed. Pretty sure we can't have roos where we live ☹

For comparison, here is a close up pic of my adult Polish hen's face. Look at her wattles, or rather lack of. And the colour. Yours are red and hang down. Plus your sickle feathers are long and hang down to the side. In a Polish hen they are shorter, tighter, smoother and point backwards to the tail, never hanging to the side. See other pic.
