The roo in the partridge silkie pen has an ugly head but he and the dark partridge hen produced some very nice chicks. The one up front is laying and the one in the far back is sitting. The other two are no longer with me in the below pic. The one up front will be in a show Sept 3rd.

Most of the Silkie-X-Ameraucanas that I hatched from your eggs last year are still going strong, and I have hatched several of their eggs. Loads of unusual colors. All the hens lay pale green or pale blue eggs. I'm selecting from the new ones now to make sure they have 5 toes, black skin, and feathers on their legs. I don't know if the chickens you have now are kin to mine; but if they are, they are very sturdy chickens.

I only have 5 of my original flock. I sold all the ameracauna's and mostly have silkies and sizzles now. I have a few oegb's and the black orph roo with some pullets he's waiting impatiently for. 3 different breeds of quail, pigeons, I think thats it. lol I've been working on improving my silkie flock and have them separated by color. I would love to find somebody to swap something with to get some buff silkie eggs. Thats the next color I want to work on. I would love to have lavender and porcelain but thats probably gonna be down the road a bit still. Unless somebody has pity on me and wants to send me eggs. You know me, I won't turn down free eggs. lol

I'm glad your so pleased with your birdies. I think it's pretty cool to get colored eggs from a silkie. Well, silkie mix but they favor the looks of a silkie.

I'm taking a black silkie and partridge silkie (Fancy Pants) to a show on Saturday. There will be somebody here though. We moved next door in the house. Part of the birds are still next door though. If you win and decide to come out on Saturday i'll let them know it's ok for you to look around.

I was going to take this one too but changed my mind. I'll get new pics of Fancy Pants tomorrow. I don't think she would be too happy if I woke her up again. Last time I got her up I gave her a bath and a blow dry and she was none too happy about it.

Can't say as I blame her either.

The Partridge and Calico Silkies have really caught my eye. I saw my first Calico in person yesterday and she was so gorgeous, I wanted to pick her up and run off with her! 'Course, my friend knows where to find me and she would have come to get her back.

WOOT! I know you're busy today, getting ready for the show. It's payday for me, too, and I'm running around paying bills and buying supplies before I go take care of the chickens, goats, and horses down at the Farm. Victor is on his way to Nashville with a good friend who is about to have heart surgery, so I'm the designated feeder-and-waterer for today and tomorrow. I'll be able to come over Sunday, and I hope to see a Blue Ribbon from the show!

I hope to see one too. lol But I don't expect it. I know others have placed in their first show and didn't expect to either but I don't want to get my hopes up. I posted some pics of 2 partridges I'm trying to decide on to take. I'm pretty much in the favor to take Fancy Pants but I decided to ask the experts their advice in the silkie thread. You can see them there. I know i'm taking the black pullet.
