Back in May, we bought 15 "mixed heavy breed cockerel" chicks. We just separated the 15 boys from our 4 laying hens, and when we pulled out this Brahma, we thought it really looks like it might be a hen. It's much smaller than the other roos, and doesn't have much of a comb at all. We'll keep it if it's a hen instead of putting it in the freezer. What do you all think?

Well, okay, so maybe it's an Americana then! [IMG] Someone told me it was a brahma, I don't know breeds very well. Regardless, the chicken in the pics is the one in question. Hen or roo?

It looks a lot like a couple of my EE hens and could be close to POL with that red comb.

Quote:Probably. I have an Ameracauna roo that has that big of comb and is just a little older.

It's not an Ameraucana or Brahma. It's very definitely an Easter Egger and it looks like a pullet to me in those pics, although I cannot see the saddle area very well. If there are shiny, skinny feathers in a fringe hanging off the back in front of the tail area, it's a cockerel. If not, it's a pullet.

100% Easter Egger pullet! She'll probably be laying green or blue eggs for you pretty soon! [IMG]

Definitely NOT Ameraucanas [IMG] Or Brahmas.

But I do see some nice Easter Egger girls.
