I seperated her from the rest of the chicks. She was fine last night, and seemed fine this morning. Eye are clear, no drainage. I noted her being picked on by the other chicks about an hour ago. She is sneezing/coughing like crazy. Her mouth is open..She looks like she has zero energy. She is trying to eat and drink but not being able to do it. Could an illness come on this fast??? Or is it more likely she has something stuck in her throat?? It's not hot enough to be heat frustration! 💀 any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

How old is she? Pictures? Does she have mucus from her beak, nostrils, watery eyes, or any sneezing? Look for any material in her beak? What do poops look like? Where did the chicks come from? Try getting her to drink some water with electrolytes/sugar water by dipping her beak or give and few drops of Poultry NutriDrench orally.

Im at wilco getting a syringe and a few things to try and help her.. no mucous at all.. eyes clear, fairly alert, lethargic but not "droppy".. not eating or drinking. Distinct wheezing, mouth open.. im thinking she has something caught in her throat/crop? She is free range, on grower feed.. gets treats in the morning.. I busted open a fairly large squash for them last night and all the chickens had a hayday.. I am going to try some electrolytes water and olive oil? Her crop does not feel heavily impacted though..😪

I tried to get a video of the sound she is making (it won't let me upload mp4 on this app), but it sounds like she is trying to clear her throat.. (i looked and its clear), poop has been normal but she is definitely distressed.. she is 12 weeks old.. also its not a cough sneeze its like a super distressed spasm like screech..

You can upload videos to YouTube or a similar site with a link posted here. Do you provide granite poultry grit to help their gizzards to grind up food and grasses? What does her crop feel like in her upper right chest? It should fill up with feed during the day, and after going without food all night long, be mostly empty first thing in the morning before she eats.

It had felt empty to me? And yes, they have access to grit seperatly in a container.. im at a loss atm.. I syringe fed her nutridrench and sugar water which she seemed to clear... but she has this incredible gurgling sound.. her crop feels mostly empty.. if it felt full I was debating attempting a lavage? (because at this point, I do not foresee her making it much longer), and maybe it would dislodge something in her throat? Im letting her rest atm.. while I scour the internet 😪

Her crop does look pretty enlarged. Check how it feels. She is having trouble passing air. A respiratory infection could cause this as well. Have you had her long?
