14 week Easter Eggers

Never questioned pullet status until now older. No crowing or saddle feathers but one has redder comb and wattles than other one smaller and pinker. Is there age start to do this and still be pullet or delayed cockerel? Possibly could be few weeks older but think both from same hatch. Haven’t see that accelerating step up comb before on the crested one either so curious about it.

Look at two red heads Reba (crested) and Wynonna. But also questioning the Wyandotte too.

All pullets! The comb and wattles are becoming redder because they are getting closer to laying age. This is normal.

I feed my birds "Flock Raiser" as I also have a male. Offer oyster shell on the side.
If you want to give a "layer" feed, then you can wait until they start squatting.

I wait until the first egg comes and then transition them over to all flock. I also provide oyster shells as a free choice.

if you're going to go to layer, then you wait until the LAST pullet is laying.

Personally I used all flock or flock raiser. I never used layer feed.

If you have a rooster, I would not switch to layer feed. Too much calcium can damage the kidneys.

Squatting is when you go up the the pullet and they squat down to be mounted by a rooster.
