Hello, new to the whole chicken raising thing but a few months ago I managed to hatch quite a few babies out of my little incubator but still not sure how many boys and girls are in the bunch.

The mothers are pure bred silkie and pure bred polish hens and the father is likely to be our dominant ameracauna rooster. At the time we did have a silkie, black maran, jersey giant and polish rooster but our ameracauna was very protective of the littler hens.

The first three are silkie crosses and the last two are polish crosses. I have a few others but don't have the best face on or side pictures yet.

Aw no, the middle three are such cuddle bugs I was hoping they were hens. What about them points to cockerels? Their colouring? Feathering? Would like to know what to look for in our other mixes.

The males all have some red coloring over their shoulders which is very typical in males especially with Easter Egger and their crosses (what hatcheries call Americana among other names).
In this one I have circled the male coloring over the wings and the pointy saddle feathers at the base of the tail.

Give me a minute and I can show you on the others as well.

This one has the male red feathers coming in and a red comb. No real saddle feathers that I can see, but they should appear soon.

All three of these appear to be male. Coloring, combs, saddle feathers. The beige one on the right needs a full body photo to be certain.
