    the fan whines... Kind of annoying, but just stick it somewhere besides where you spend most of your time.

    Pick a smaller area to fill in the water tray. Less surface area will equal less RH.

    I think if you are down to using the smallest well in the tray you could partially cover the tray with foil or leave the wells empty and use an even smaller container of your own that has a reduced surface area compared to the well.
