Just a thought....

I just recently watched an episode of this show, the one where they moved for the new baby. Now i have not seen all the episodes, it just happened to be on the other night.

Now, I know this is going to sounds SO terrible but it made me wonder (since all their other kids were delivered with no problems) if humans, like dogs, could get some form of Pyometra(sp?)... obviously her uterus was Not filled with pus, but after 18 kids you really have to wonder how much the human Uterus can handle before things start going 'wrong'.

She had toxemia, or eclampsia as it is known now. They told her that it was not because she had had 18 children previously, it was just something that happens to a woman who is pregnant. I had it with my son, second pregnancy and a touch of it when the twins, and nothing had changed in my life, diet or otherwise. It's the livers inability to absorb red blood cells if I remember right, and causes albuim to spill over into the kidneys. I think that is why people think the kidneys sometimes cause it, but its actually the liver. I love that family, I know people knock them because of their large family, but they do it ALL on their own, and I admire them for that. I love their home and their little mini-laundromat just knocks my socks off. I hope this little baby turns out to be fine, she is such a sweet little thing. You can actually go to their website and read about their latest news. I think I just typed in duggarfamily.com and it brought their site up.

Oh okay, so that's why the baby had problems? this is the first episode i had watched and i am just amazed at how large their family is! i have nothing against large families or them in any way. it just amazes me how they are doing it all on their own with such a large family...there's so many small families struggling these days and their situation is really amazing. i know they get some $ from the show now but even before that... i think it's wonderful theyre able to give all their kids such a good life.

I also hope the little girl gets all better, she's just adorable

they have no idea what causes the toxemia? so it just kind of happens like gestational diabetes or something?

I think they are a wonderful family. They are raising their children to be self sufficent, productive members of society.

And yes, toxemia or pre-eclampsia just sort of "happens". It can happen to you with your first baby or 19th

<-- Obviously never been pregnant, lol.

I only know a few friends that have developed diabetes when they were pregnant, but never heard of toxemia or pre-eclampsia.

toxemia or pre-eclampsia is actually pregnancy induced high blood pressure, that can lead to liver and kidney damage. It doesn't usually result in early delivery though. A woman might be induced if the case is severe. Not sure what happened in the Duggar case.

She was in the hospital for another issue when her symptms became life endarngering. That is why she had the c-section - emergency. That family is absolutely amazing.

I saw that episode too! The only one I have seen (was the the Inlaws cause we dont have cable) but I think Hulu has them...
Anyways, very inspiring family!

What does the dad do for a living?
